As we regularly have feedback on the challenges that schools face using our current training platform, we have been exploring the options of managing training for courses via West Sussex Services for Schools.
To take this forward, in July of this year we ran a small pilot with a number of schools and are pleased to announce that our new training portal is now active at the following link:
This area of the site will allow you to:
Search for and view details of courses being run by the School Effectiveness team;
Book places on courses for yourself or members of your school;
Read pre course material, where relevant;
Track training spend alongside SLA packages and service spend
…and much more to come.
Currently EVC courses being run by our Learning Outside the Classroom team, as well as DSL Training from our Safeguarding in Education team are available to view and request places for, with many more being introduced over the coming months.
It is anticipated that this area of the site will grow and courses which are currently being advertised on the Learning Gateway will transfer over to WSSfS. We will still need to use both systems whilst we are migrating courses over to WSSfS, but we anticipate this being complete by the end of August 2019 and apologise for any inconvenience that this might cause.
Guides on how to use the system have been added to our newly updated User Guides page here:
Those staff members with General Access to the site will be able to book themselves on any course, which will then need to be authorised by someone in school who has either Purchaser access or the new access rights group called General Access - Training Management, This new level of access enables users in school to take control of training bookings for all staff, including authorising bookings without the need for Purchasers to carry it out. Please refer the user guides at the above link for more details as well as instructions on how to allocate this access to school staff.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch at:
If you would like one of our team to come and visit your cluster/locality group and demonstrate how to use this area of the system, or any other part of WSSfS, please do let us know.
Don’t forget our event at County Hall North in Horsham on the 21st November where we will be happy to give you a demonstration on this, or any other aspect of the system.
